The SERTC was the first crucial step and it is going well in it's infancy. We have a long way to go to develop they kind of rabid wrestling fan base and donors that the top 5 have, but they are building it slowly. I started by requesting my Golden Hokie donation to be allocated to the wrestling team about 8 years ago and I encourage others to do the same. I also donate to the SERTC separately which is the more important part. The football team has plenty of money, but the more the admin sees the fan base wanting to support the wrestling team, the more apt they are to steer additional resources towards the sport. It takes money and success to compete for the podium consistently. The best way to get success is to attract top wrestlers with nice facilities and top training partners through the SERTC. Iron sharpens Iron. Graduate training partners don't come cheap and outside donations to the SERTC are crucial to keeping guys like Walz around. It would have been nice to keep Joey Dance around, but I believe he got a better offer from Northwestern. PSU has about a dozen guys outside the program that work out with their team and it shows in their dominance. Their fans donations make that possible. We need to find one wealthy donor to drop about $5 Million into the SERTC and we would instantly have the resources to compete year in and year out with the big boys. Anyone know that guy? Until then, we need a LOT of smaller donations to keep building...If you have not already given to the SERTC...it is time. Even $25 each helps when you get 500 new donors to do it...
